Joey Brewer Children's Playground Fund
Thank you to our members for helping us raise over $500 for the Joey Brewer Children's Playground Fund!
Construction for the Joey Brewer Playground has begun and the children at First Baptist Day School could not be more excited:

Joey was GSCA President from 2001-2002 and the 2010 recepient of the GSCA Lifetime Achievement Award. Even though Joey excelled in leadership roles, she usually worked behind the scenes helping family, friends or colleagues to be successful. Her husband Don said, “Her greatest legacy was helping those people who will never be able to say thank you.”

Congratulations to Two Georgia Counselors - Finalists for ASCA Counselor of the Year
Honoring excellence in counseling, GSCA is proud to announce that Nicole Pfleger of Cobb County and Anne Ogilvy of Forsyth County have both been selected as ASCA’s Counselor of the Year finalists. ASCA honors school counselors who lead exemplary comprehensive school counseling programs. Finalists and their nominators are invited to Washington D.C. during National School Counseling Week to participate in a congressional briefing and tour of Washington D.C. The nominees are also honored at the School Counselor of the Year Gala. This year ASCA only chose 6 nominees, two of which are from right here in Georgia!

Belief Statements
As members of GSCA, we believe all students, grades K – 12, deserve access to school counseling services. The nature and substance of school counseling programs should be comprehensive, developmental, and continuous. That the on-going enhancement of school counseling skills and knowledge to benefit children is essential. All people have value and deserve respect and dignity. Counseling services provided to students and schools should be data driven with appropriate accountability components. all students should be taught skills that lead to developing competencies in the three areas of academic, career, and social.
